Would you like to be notified when changes are made on this website? Would you like to receive occasional weekend ride invitations? These two services have been combined as of Oct. 2007.

Three ways to stay in touch:

  1. Register for the club discussion list at Google groups. Simply enter an email address in the box below and follow the steps. You'll be asked to verify that you have used a working email address by clicking on a link in a confirmation email you'll receive at that address.
  2. RSS Feeds

Too Much Mail?

  • This is a discussion group that allows me not only to notify the group of changes and rides, but also allows all members of the group to reply and post to the entire group.
  • If lots of folks are posting rides, we'll all have more options. This is good.
  • But what do I do about all that mail?
  • You have four options to manage that mail. The last two will reduce your mail load to 1 message or less each day.
    • Log in and look for edit mymembership on the right side.
  1. Receive every message and configure your mail reader to drop all the messages into a special folder so as not to clutter your inbox.
  2. Get no email at all but visit http://groups.google.com/group/twinriverscyclists to see the messages in the discussion.
  3. Receive a summary that lists messages and read only the ones you want.
  4. Receive a daily digest with up to 25 messages in their entirety

Don't want to expose your address?

With spammers trolling the web for email addresses, you might want to be careful about exposing your main address. Use a secondary address. In fact when you subscribe you will receive a gmail account. Use that address. If it is compromised later, delete it and open another.

Yahoo mail allows you to create one "extra account." You might use that extra account to register avoiding using your main address again. The extra account isn't even your main Yahoo account and can be deleted if it is compromised.

List etiquette

  • When replying to the group . .
  • delete the bulk of the message but . .
  • Keep essential information you are responding to.
  • Otherwise make sure you have written enough so new readers will understand what you are responding to.
  • Change the subject line when you take the discussion in a new direction.
  • ALL CAPS is considered shouting and very rude.
  • Language--it should go without saying that this is a family list.
  • Don't be timid. Jump in! Participate. Let us know you are out there.

Unsubscribe

  • While I can remove you, it is simpler if you just visit the
  • http://groups.google.com/group/twinriverscyclists and manage your own subscription.
    • Once logged on, look for edit my membership on the right side. You'll be able to adjust the amount of mail you receive as well as find an unsubscribe button.

Usage

  • To post to this list you need to use an email address you registered as a member and address your mail to twinriverscylcists@googlegroups.com.
  • You never have to visit the site but there are lots of cool things to do including the ability to share files.
  • Lurkers: folks who subscribe but never participate. We're glad to have you, but we'd like to know what you think.
  • So, here's hoping you'll all join and post some rides.

, Calendar

If you use a news reader, use this address for our calendar feed.
http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/twinriverscyclists%40gmail.com/public/basic

You won't get update notices or news but you will get everything on the main calendar. It doesn't seem to include events added by board members and shared on the calendar. It is still worthwhile visiting the main calendar.

In the Spin

This feed for your news reader will give you each of the articles posted in the middle column of the first page.
